Questions, answered
Do I need to lock my dollars?
Terms run 3 to 10 years. That's how we can pay a fixed 6.5%. But you're never trapped: you can surrender your deposit at any time.
Who is Meanwhile?
Meanwhile is a US- and Bermuda-based savings and life insurance company, backed by top US financial institutions including Apollo and Northwestern Mutual. It was founded by Zac Townsend, who co-led McKinsey's global fintech practice and previously built Standard Treasury, a banking-technology company acquired by Silicon Valley Bank.
Why have I never heard of Meanwhile?
Because we are just arriving in Argentina. Meanwhile operates in the US and Bermuda, publishes audited financials every year, and is backed by investors like Apollo, Northwestern Mutual, Bain Capital and Sam Altman. Check us out before you deposit a dollar. It is exactly what we would do.
Is it safe?
Your deposit is regulated in Bermuda, the world's insurance capital, and held with US and Bermuda-based institutions, outside the Argentine system. Your rate is fixed by contract for the full term.
How can you pay 6.5% when banks pay almost nothing?
Because Meanwhile is a life insurance company, not a bank. Banks have to keep your deposit available on demand, so they pay very little. Insurance companies manage long-term savings, which lets them invest at longer horizons and pay the higher, steadier rates Americans are used to. That is the model behind your fixed rate.
What happens to my dollars if Meanwhile fails?
Your deposit is a policy issued by a regulated insurance company. The Bermuda Monetary Authority requires Meanwhile to hold reserves backing what it owes you and supervises it continuously. And if an insurer is ever wound down, policyholders rank ahead of other creditors.
Are you based in Argentina?
No, and that's the point. Meanwhile is based and regulated in the US and Bermuda, backed by top US financial institutions.
Grow your dollars with peace of mind. Just like Americans do.
